An institutional open access data repository for Lingnan's research community to deposit, share and publish their research datasets

Adding a New Dataset

To deposit any data in Lingnan Data Repository, you will need to create a new dataset first:

  1. Go to Lingnan Data Repository
  2. Login with your Lingnan account
  3. Click "Begin Your Data Submission Here" (Login required)
  4. Then, click > "New Dataset"

    Don't change anything in the "Host Collection". Please start filling out from the "Citation Metadata" section.
  5. Complete the Mandatory fields with an asterisk (*) and the Recommended fields if they are applicable.
  6. Select file(s) to be uploaded, or you may skip this step if you wish to share only the metadata, which is recommended if the files contain sensitive data.  
  7. Click "Save Dataset" to create a new draft dataset
    • Please note that the dataset is not yet published at this stage
    • More metadata fields will be available for editing after the draft dataset is saved
  8. Below green message will appear if you dataset has been successfully created. You will also receive a notification email

Mandatory fields

Field

Description

Title

A dataset title should describe what the dataset contains. If a publication is associated with only one dataset, you may use the publication title as the dataset title.

Author

The author name(s) will be included in the data citation. You are recommended to include a researcher identifier, preferably ORCID, to enhance the visibility and identification of the contributors.

Click the  button to add new authors if multiple authors are included.

Point of Contact

To streamline the validation process, Lingnan Data Repository requires that the contact person for datasets deposited in the repository should be currently employed or enrolled at Lingnan University.

Description

A brief summary describing the purpose, nature, and scope of the dataset.

Subject

The areas of study that are topically relevant to the dataset.

Recommended fields

You are also recommended to provide the following fields to enhance discovery and retrieval:

Keyword

Include key terms that describe important aspects of the dataset to facilitate efficient discovery and retrieval by other researchers

Related Publication
(If applicable)

Include any publications that use the data from this dataset
