Creating a comprehensive DMP requires significant time and effort. To make the process easier, you can make use of below free online DMP tools, DMPonline and DMPTool to help you to prepare a DMP that meet specific funder requirements.

DMPonline is a free web-based tool developed by Digital Curation Centre (DCC) that supports researchers to develop DMPs with the built-in templates for major UK and European funders and best practice guidelines.

For the first time user, you will need to create a free account to use DMPonline:

  1. Go to DMPonline
  2. Click "Create account"
  3. Under "Organisation", enter "Lingnan University"
  4. You can get started with your DMPs by clicking on the "Create plans" tab
  5. Read below guides & examples to learn about how to use DMPonline to create your plans

DMPTool is another free web-based tool developed by the University of California to help researchers create high-quality DMPs that meet funder requirements. It primarily serves the US funders such as NSF, NIH, NOAA, and NASA etc.

For the first time user, you will need to create a free account to use DMPTool:

  1. Go to DMPTool
  2. Click "Get Started"
  3. Choose "Create an account" under "Option 3: If not affiliated and you need an account"
  4. Under "Organisation", enter "Lingnan University"
  5. You can get started with your DMPs by clicking on the "Create plan" button
  6. Read below guides & examples to learn about how to use DMPTool to create your plans
